I went into this album blind and not really knowing what to expect… and that’s how I would recommended everyone go into this experience. Black and death are the foundation but there are so many nontraditional diversions you are left with a unique experience that leans towards the obscure and bizarre. 8/10

Aquilus took a decade off and came back like he never left! Bellum I is yet another piece of beautiful melodic black metal mixed with classical and folk that makes you wanna dance naked in a forest somewhere. The natural sounding production increases the atmosphere heavily. Griseus is a monumental black metal album for me but Bellum I isn't far behind. Can't wait for II!

Russian Post-Black / Melodic Black Metal. These guys really know what they are doing & they have given a whole new meaning to bleak! But they have done this without losing those incredible melodies at each & every stage. Highly recommended!!!

Geboren is a perfect centerpiece to Balans, but the entire album deserves much attention. The vocals, drums, and production are all exemplary. Melodies and riffs are distinctive. It’s a little slower paced than I expected, but very good.
